2good.dev or hiring developers in house
An in house team knows your business and stays. That is worth a lot. Building one takes time, and buying blocks of work is often the better first step.

How it usually works
Hiring in house
You write a role, recruit, wait out a notice period, onboard, and then pay salary and benefits whether or not there is work that month. You also need someone to review code, test and manage delivery. Over time the team learns your business in a way no outside team can.
Works well for
- Software that is the core of your business for years
- Steady, continuous work with no gaps
- Knowledge that must stay inside the company
Worth watching for
- Months between deciding to hire and useful work
- A single hire with nobody to review their code
- Paying for a full team in quiet months
- Losing the knowledge when someone leaves without documentation
The 2good route
How a block runs on 2good terms.
The same five stages for every block of 150 hours. The invoice comes after the last one.
- Step 1We talkFree
- Step 2We scopeSigned Statement of Work
- Step 3We buildIncrements you can see
- Step 4You acceptThen you pay
- Step 5We carry onNext block, if you want one

Choose 2good when
Choose 2good to build the first version before you hire, to cover a peak your team cannot absorb, or to add review, testing and project management you do not have in house yet.
Choose the other route when
Hire when the software is the business, the work is continuous, and you are ready to manage engineers. Many teams do both: an in house lead, with blocks bought for the rest.
Questions
Asked by people comparing.
Can 2good work with our developers?
Yes. Many clients keep their own team and give us defined pieces of work. A first piece of work can run alongside your team while you compare.
Will we get the code and documentation?
Yes. Source code, documentation and IP belong to you on acceptance and payment, and each block ends with documentation and a delivery note, so your own hires can pick it up.
Can you place an engineer inside our team?
That is Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE), a Code Colonies engagement model scoped separately from 2good blocks.
